IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CBRF FACILITIES March 12, 2010
To Whom It May Concern:
|
|
The American Red Cross is excited to be partnering with you to help meet the newly implemented CBRF training requirements from the State of Wisconsin.Effective April 1, 2010, Chapter DHS 83, Wisconsin Administrative Code for Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs) will take effect. Among the changes are new requirements for both instructors and students of the four department-approved face-to-face training topics, outlined in DHS 83.20.
The American Red Cross First Aid and Choking training for CBRFs will put your facility one step closer to meeting the new training requirements. The three training options are listed below:Option 1: FULL SERVICE
A Red Cross instructor can come to your facility and train your employees in First Aid with Choking (4 hour course) at a time that works for you – daytime, evenings or weekends. With a minimum of 6 participants, an instructor will bring all necessary program materials to provide quality on-site training. Effective April 1, 2010, the fee for CBRF First Aid and Choking will be a $65.00 per person. Please contact one of your Northeast Wisconsin chapters of American Red Cross (listed on the back) to schedule your upcoming training sessions. Option 2: AUTHORIZED PROVIDER
Become an authorized provider and have an employee/s at your facility trained as an American Red Cross instructor and train your own employees in house. This cost-effective option allows you to schedule training at your convenience with instructors that are familiar with your specific emergency procedures and employee needs.
- The American Red Cross Lay Responder Instructor course is offered within the Northeast Wisconsin Region on a monthly basis. The cost of the course is $165.00. Instructor crossover courses are also available for current American Heart Association Instructors for a fee of $100.00.
- Authorized Provider fees will be $28.00 per person. This fee includes a First Aid/CPR/AED participant workbook, a First Aid Skills card, a CPR/AED Skills card, a training bandage kit and a course certification card. Authorized Providers shall NOT library materials per the State. The certification card issued is valid for an indefinite period. The accompanying DVD can be rented for $10.00 if your facility does not own the DVD.
- Anyone who wishes to be a CBRF trainer for First Aid and Choking after March 31, 2010, must be approved and follow the requirements found on http://www.uwosh.edu/ccdet/CBRF/
- American Red Cross Authorized Provider Instructors will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of $100.00 to the state to be placed on the state registry for certified CBRF First Aid and Choking instructors. This fee will be assessed once every two years by the state.
Option 3: COMMUNITY COURSESFor those businesses that have fewer than 6 employees who need training, classes are available during the daytime, evenings and weekends at community locations. Classes are open to the public and scheduled at a minimum of once monthly within the Northeast Wisconsin Region. Effective April 1, 2010, CBRF First Aid and Choking will be $55.00 per person for Community classes. To view a schedule of community classes and locations visit us at http://www.newredcross.org. ATTENTION
- Each CBRF student MUST have their own class materials. Materials can be obtained in a community or full service class or from the local American Red Cross Chapter. Please see attached page for materials. Approved Authorized Providers shall NOT library materials. Photocopying American Red Cross materials is prohibited.
- Student identification is required; please bring photo identification to class.
- The state has imposed a one time, $25.00 registration fee for each person/employee to be placed on the state registry as trained/certified in CBRF First Aid and Choking. This registry payment must be a separate check or money order made out to CCDET for the appropriate number of registrants and is required at the beginning of, or before, each class.
- For Community and Full Service courses, the American Red Cross will forward the $25.00 registry fee for each passing student along with the appropriate American Red Cross records to the state so that newly trained employees will be listed on the CBRF registry.
- Authorized Providers will be responsible for sending the $25.00 registry fee for each passing student along with a copy American Red Cross paperwork directly to the state and also sending the American Red Cross paperwork to the local Chapter.
**Students will NOT be allowed to participate in an American Red Cross community or full service class without the appropriate registry fee in the proper payment method of check or money order or photo identification. Cash or credit cards are NOT accepted. Please plan accordingly. American Red Cross class materials (First Aid/CPR/AED participant workbook, a First Aid Skills card, a CPR/AED Skills card will be handed out at the time of class).ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
