Every
day, the American Red Cross helps people in emergencies
...whether it's half a million disaster victims or one
family who lost their home to a fire.
Our vital
work is made possible by people like you, who learn how
good it can feel to lend a helping hand. Red Cross "everyday
heroes" come from all walks of life. They're all ages.
Everyone has something special to offer...including you.
You are
needed by the Red Cross. Right now.
-
Too
busy? Your local Red Cross can work with you to
provide rewarding experiences, whatever, your
schedule.
-
Think
you don't have any skills to offer? You would be
surprised. If you need training, we will provide it.
Nationwide, the Red Cross depends on volunteers, who
constitute 97 percent of our total work force, to carry
on our humanitarian work.
Locally,
volunteers are needed in the following areas:
- Administrative and Clerical Support
- Shopping and Errand Provider
- First Aid Station Volunteer
- Armed Forces Emergency Services
- Health & Safety Services
- Disaster Services
- Special Projects
- Fund Raising
All
volunteers must complete an
application and attend
orientation at the minimum. For questions about
volunteering, call 920.733.4481.
The volunteer banquet is held annually in June by the Outagamie
Chapter to recognize the significant contributions
volunteers provide in delivering Red Cross services to
our service area. Volunteers enjoy a fine meal, prizes,
entertainment and camaraderie with other volunteers.
Awards are also presented.

George Dubey Award -
George A. Dubey began his career with the Red Cross in
1955 as a First Aid instructor. Through his years of
teaching courses at the Red Cross, George instructed
nearly every type of Red Cross course offered. Teaching
thousands of people how to save lives was just one part
of George's dedication to the Red Cross. George also
served as the chapter's Health and Safety Committee
chairman; he scheduled, staffed and equipped First Aid
Stations at community events, and was on the Divisional
Health and Safety committee for eight years. In 1978,
George was honored for his outstanding volunteerism when
he received the Ann Orbison Award. This award is
presented to individuals who believe as George did that
teaching people to save lives is the most important
knowledge you can share.
